Is The Grass Really Greener?

This world can be so competitive! The workforce is getting more and more competitive. Everyone is vying for who can get the most likes and the next most viral TikTok. Who can find the next big thing that is going to propel them into their dream house and vacationing to a new country every week before there 30?
My message to you is simple. Do not let comparison steal your joy!
Everyone gets so caught up in trying to be successful, that we are constantly looking over our shoulder to see what the next person has accomplished. Is their salary more than yours? Do they have more likes than you? Are they traveling more than you? And then we question ourselves. Are we not doing enough? What else should we be doing? Am I going down the wrong path if I do not have my own business and make close to six figures by 25?
Stop comparing yourself to others! Your path and journey are unique. You also do not know what someone has gone through to get where they are. Do not worry about how far ahead or behind everyone else is. Just focus on your own road.
If you are constantly focusing on what everyone else is doing, two things are happening.
1) You are not focusing on watering your own grass, therefore further hindering your progress. Keep your eyes on your own paper and get to work!
2) You miss out on celebrating your own milestones because you are letting others steal your thunder! Instead of celebrating how far you have come, or how close you are getting to your goals, you are raining on your own parade by envying someone else’s accomplishments…that they are happily celebrating.
The grass is always greener on the other side…unless you focus on watering your own grass. If you stop worrying so much about what everyone else is doing, or what their opinion may be, I promise life will be much easier and your stress level will reduce significantly. Do not short yourself by not celebrating your own achievements. No one else has gone through what you have, so don’t let anyone else dictate how you feel. Not to mention…they are celebrating themselves regardless of what you think. The hard truth is, they are not thinking about what you are doing. They are laser-focused on themselves; you should do the same. Your 20’s are made for being selfish! Your whole life really, but at the end of the day, you get to figure out what it is you do and do not like. Figure out what it is that you want out of life, and then go after it unapologetically! Do not let someone else be the star of your life.
