A Fresh Start For The New Year!

One of the best things about bringing in the new year, is that it signifies a new beginning! We get to wipe the slate clean and start fresh! With that being said…leave the past in the past! Every year comes with it’s fair share of highs and lows, but we don’t need to carry that with us into the following year. Challenge yourself to intentionally approach this year as if it were a blank slate.
Now, lets be honest. It is easy for everyone to say that past is the past, but sometimes the “past” can feel like it’s right beside you! It is important to remember, in times like that, that our past is not the enemy. Use your past as a reference or a guide on what to do and what not to do. Think of your past as the receptionist at a get-a-way hotel. The receptionist is there to provide you with suggestions on where to go, what to eat, and some popular activities you may like. BUT…you get the final say-so on where you actually choose to go. We all go through hard times, but the most important thing is to learn from those hard times, so that we can have an exceptional future.
I challenge you to reflect on how you felt about your 2021 as a whole. What did you accomplish? What didn’t go as planned? What is still on your to-do list? You can literally do anything you want, and you have a whole year to do it! Stop putting off things you want to do, and stop harping on what didn’t go well last year. For some, 2021 was the worst year ever. That means, 2022, can only get better! For others, 2021 was an ok or great year. So, use the momentum and successes from last year, and make this one even better! Your past is merely a place of reference. Your life is not a song stuck on repeat, but a show where you (the director and executive producer) get to decide what happens in this upcoming season. So, write success and happiness into your future! You are only doomed to relive the past if you refuse to look to the future.
Walk into this new year of new beginnings confidently and positively. Choose to have a positive mindset, and positive things will naturally start to come your way. Yes, our past contributes to how we arrived at this point in time, but it does not define us. Don’t forget, but learn; push forward towards the bright future you are striving for!
“The past is a place of reference, not a place of residence.” -Toby McKeehan
